Three TV providers in three days!

Well, we had a fun week.  During this week, ending January 29th, we had three TV providers and two internet providers.

Woke up Tuesday with Diretv providing TV and Suddenlink, Internet and VOIP home phone.                                                                                                    Directv had sent notice a day or so before they were raising our rate by about $40 a month.  I had decided I wasn't going to accept that and found that Suddenlink could just add TV to my internet and phone and with the bundle I could save about $80 a month, for a total of $187 a month.I called and arranged for installation the next da

I called Directv and after about 45 minutes finally got them to accept, not graciously, my quitting their system.

So the next day the Suddenlink showed up and the installation went well and all was fine until about one hour after he left.  I got an email from Suddenlink confirming the installation and the 'New' monthly amount, $269.34 a month.  I called their main office and spent another 45 minutes talking to a couple of people and they would not honor the quote given, in- person locally.  They finally offered to Reduce the figure by $10.00.  Said 'No'.  Told them I would go to the local office and deal with them.

Once at the office, they said their hands were tied and if their people in the home office had the final say.  Ask them to cancel the TV and I would go back to just internet and phone.  Said I would have to call this dedicated department to arrange a disconnect.  Got home and called.  Told him right off I want the TV canceled and I would keep the internet and phone which I had for the past 11+ years.  He put me on hold and 4 or 5 minutes later. came back and said the home office people made a mistake and it really was the original $187 a month and actually it was $186.

I was so steamed by then a ask him had he heard anything I said.  I want ti to cancel the TV and keep the internet and phone.  Go back to what it was the day before.  Or, I wanted to cancel the whole deal and drop Suddenlink altogether.  He finally acknowledged that and had to go check with his supervisor.

At that point, I think they decided to run a bluff.  He came back and said unless I took the package, TV, internet and phone.  That was that...so I called their bluff and canceled the entire thing.

When I got home I contacted Dish TV and had them install their TV satellite system the next day, Thursday.  It's working great and my T-Mobile Home Internet devise is serving 3 TV's, 2 PC's, at least 2Tablets and 2 phones.  Also a Nest thermostat and a couple of Google mini's. We did lose our VOIP home phone but like my son said, "...you are the only people he knew of that had a 'Home Phone".

End results:  If I had left things as they were, the new cost with Directv was $168+, plus $101 with Suddenlink and $50 with T-Mobile, a total $319, compared to $169 total with Dish TV and T-Mobile, a savings of a neat $150!

There is a company starting to install fiber through the city.  Once it's installed, they will lease out use to whoever.  Once that is done, the cable will be done and maybe satellite.

Chinese Virus...

Read where one of the side effects with this newest deviation of the Chinese virus may be a rash.  I really think I had the virus up until about a week or ten days ago.  Over the last week, I've developed a mild rash over my right arm.  It seems to have crept up the arm and now is to my shoulder.  It is not bad unless I scratch it and I have in my sleep.

So far the most relief I've had is from Gold Bond Psoriasis Relief Cream.  Just a suggestion if you suffer from the same.

Oh, did you notice?  Now that most mandates for masks have been put aside, biden is wasting our money by sending out 400,000,000 masks.  Clown, doing it just so he can say did something.

Something less......

Something less bitter and angry having nothing to do with politics.

We've started "Downton Abbey" again and enjoying it every bit as much as the first time.  Think we've caught a few things that we might have missed.

One advantage of getting old is that we can watch it every year and still enjoy it.  Gonna be a sad day when the likes of NetFlix or Prime take it out of their library.

Such great actors but so far I've only seen Lord Grantham and Mary in other shows.  Mary in a rough cowboy show of all things.  I hope the others have found work on British TV, movies or stage.

Did we do any of this....?

Read this published in 2005.  Did we do any of this?

An emergency plan for a pandemic, dated 2005.

Ask your congressman.

I just don't understand...

I just don't understand when biden, with only 33% of people approving him how he thinks he can call the other 67% that they are racist and domestic terrorists.  Has just given up or does he plan on using his presidential powers to lock up that 67%?

Is he trying to push people into a violent response so he can crush them?

Hopefully, sadly, he may be just at a total loss as to what to do and stumbling around trying to find something that works.

Not one of those options is good for us or the United States of America.

...and we are to wear masks!

Here go...Oh, Amazon has American-made masks.

1984 is here....

Our friends north of the border are getting ahead of us on the road to 1984.  They have just passed a law that effectively declared the teachings of the Bible are "myths", and if churches teach things like it is wrong for sex if between two other than man and women, it is wrong, they are subject to arrest, and if convicted, up to five years in prison.

Now, I believe in individual choice and whether two or three or a dozen decide to 'mix' it up, there is no way any concern or mine.  Whether I personally think it is right or wrong is irrelevant.

The Law should not be able to make me participate and the law should not be able to make the above people destain.

The same goes for abdicating for the right to not do it or the right to do it.  It is up to the individual which and called freedom.

I guess the government has taken absolute power now, after all, they have actually jailed pastors, in Maximum Security prisons no less, for not locking their doors during the China virus crisis.  In one case, after jailing the pastor, they barricaded the doors and then erected three layers of fencing around the church.  Adolph would have been proud.

Another example...

Another example of either unforgivable ignorance or duplicity by the current administration is that us being vaccinated would prevent us from contracting this China virus.  That lie, not misinformation, an out-and-out lie, was used to justify their invasion of our God-given rights to control our person and to show they were doing "something".

The technical side of this is beyond me but the vaccine prevents us from suffering the most severe effects of the sickness.  The virus enters our system through our respiratory system, and once it has you, the protection provided by the vaccine that is in the blood fights back.

We nothing but a but of clowns running this show.  They simply were not prepared, or capable and now we are seeing the results.  I had rather believe that than that they are deliberately destroying this wonderful country.

On another subject, today I read where the State Health department is attempting to use its authority to forcibly detain and inter people, all the way down to age 5, that are not vaccinated.  Set up internment camps like we did the Japanese during WW II.

That is incomprehensible to me.  What country am I in?

Dunce on the Supreme Court...

That dunce, Sotomayor showed how uninformed she is by claiming that 100,000 children were hospitalized and many in ICU.  Another liberal woman justice contributed to the ignorance as well as Justice Byers.

One of the most surprising things about this S**t Show was the head of the CDC went public today with the correct figure of approximately 3,500.  What really surprised me was that this head of the CDC knew that.  To date, I think that's the first fact that has come out of her mouth.

Oh, it seems that many of these people that have been hospitalized were there for other reasons and just happen to prove positive for the China virus.

2022 !

Well, 2022 is finally here and at this point, it doesn't look like it will be that much different than '21, unfortunately.  I know that is very negative and I hope someone can convince me otherwise.

It does appear that we may be over the most dangerous version of the Chinese virus though.  I know it's not politically correct to refer to it that way but that is what it is.  To anyone who is offended by that, please cancel me.

One other possible positive thing is the mid-term elections in November.  We have a chance to regain control of both the House and Senate.  If we do, don't let us squander the opportunity.

On the 2024 election, we have a very likely chance of really screwing that up.  I can see a contentious primary with Trump and a couple of other contenders killing any unity within the GOP.  If Trump were to win, the 'Anyone But Trumpers" staying home, Again!

While I was a Trump supporter and laud his policies, because he is so decisive, I would rather he stay home and give his whole-hearted support to the Republican that most closely espouses his policies.

Looks like we may have not dodged the Chinese bug.  Kathy tested positive for it yesterday and she's had the symptoms over this past week.  Leslye and I haven't so far other than maybe a bit of a sore throat.  No fever thank goodness.
