Unsettling News...

If you follow my posts, most likely you know Dickie, my brother.

This morning Sandy called and Dick was in the hospital and initially she thought might be stroke symptoms.  He has been through all the test and no stroke or heart problems; most likely, and imbalance of his medications.  We should get a definitive answer tomorrow.

I can assure you Sandy is keeping them on their toes.

Feb 2023

Just suvived a pretty harsh 3 day cold spell with significant icing of the trees.  Many, many trees split, heavy limbs down, power out and many auto accidents on the primary highways and roads.

We did very well.  We have a generator that at minimum runs Leslye's oxygen machine, a floor lamp and a coffee pot.  We have a gas range, don't tell @iden, so we keep a pot of water on so with that and a throw, we were fine.

Over the past year or so I've had my big Oak in the front yard keep trimmed up and as a result, I only had 4 pieces of small dead wood to pick up.  But, as soon as an arborist is free, I'll have some more trimming done as with the heavy icing bent some limbs down to the roof.  We'll survive the external challenges, as will you.

If you are For Gun Control, don't bother looking at this, it'll just make you look foolish.  We wouldn't want that would we.

Southwest Airlines...

Right now, all the Main Stream Media and all the publicity seeking politicians are trying to out shout each other about how awful Southwest Airlines is.

They all have one fact right, S/W screwed up. They have acknowledged it, promised to fix it and if they live up to their history, they will.

Before the country gets a rope and finds a tree limb, they need consider what S/W has done for us.

Consider why so many people were affected by this awful holiday mess.  There were many because Southwest Airlines offered not only very reasonable fares but maybe more importantly, many were able to fly from a local home base directly to their final destination rather than flying into "hub", like Houston, Chicago or Denver, wait there, maybe change planes or even airlines, adding hours to their trip, or even a day if a connection is missed.

If you have options,  every decision will involve compromises and risk.  I would hope all that are ranting and raving will stop and consider why they picked Southwest Airlines un the first place.

I don't work for S/W. Never have and have never have worked for a travel agency.  Just someone who has admired S/W and Herb's culture.

HVAC Contractor to avoid in the Travis, Williamson County area.

In June of this year, I hired EMS HVAC Home Services to replace my entire Heating and Air Conditioning system.  It was heck getting any response out of the company as to when it was scheduled or any communication out of them at all until one day they called and said the Technician was on the way.

Once they arrived, the two of them went to work with a fever.  They seemed to know what they were doing despite their appearance.  Shortly the A/C was running and doing it's job which was muchly appreciated as we were on our 6th day without A/C in the middle of the worse heat wave of the year.

All is fine and good until early November when the first cold snap hit us.  We turned on the heating side of the system and nothing.  No heat, no fan.  We called them and they promised someone out in two or three days.  In the meantime, we had to live under blankets 24/7.  Finally, a Tech came out and checked the system.  Lo and behold, the gas was turned off because there was no exhaust system hooked up to the system.  They would order the parts!

It was several days before they delivered the parts and then later a technician showed up to install them.  This was five months after they said the job was done.

The most infuriating part of dealing with this company is the lack of communication.  No one will return calls.  When there is a problem, no one gives you an idea of how it will be resolved.  When they screw up and don't complete a job, no one apologizes.

To get them to move off the dime and repair the heating system, I had the Georgetown Code Endorsement department, actually, 3 men, follow up with EMS to get them to finish the job.  In fact, EMS contracting was not even registered with the City and did not get a permit to do this job.

I have also filed a complaint with the Texas Department of Contracting and Registration.   For all, it will do, probably a waste of time.

ARMED IRS...

Considering this new bill the Damocrats are passing and the fact that they intend to hire 87,000 new IRS agents, I don't guess the fact that the IRS has almost 4,500 weapons and over 5,000,000 should concern us as tax-paying citizens.  Of course, that was as of 2019, they may have added to their arsenal since then.
