The local paper in Denver is reporting that there has been a shooting at a Motorcycle gathering there. At least one dead and possibly others wounded by either gun shoot or stabbing. It's said that it was between rival gangs.
I report it because the paper mentioned that a policeman was seen with an semi-automatic rifle on his shoulder. Now, if that had been an ordinary citizen, it would have been an Assault Weapon.

Is the FBI playing games with the investigation into hiLIARy's email? I read, over the past few days, that they were looking into the originators of these classified documents. Are they going to pass the criminal buck back to these people?
I am really inclined to think they are being objective but who can trust any one if the federal government now? I would only look at these people to see if they are the one that took the documents out of the secure network and moved them to the unsecure one. Whoever did that is the one should hang, whether hilLIARy instructed them to or not. Then, nail her for giving the instruction and again if she forwarded any of these documents.
I lived under these classification rules for years and when in the service, I was 'debriefed' many times. This 'debriefing' was simply them reminding you of the consequences of divulging classified information. These consequences were severe.
If anyone that reads this know whether the House or the Senate can appoint a Special Prosecutor with subpoena powers? Can anyone other than a Grand Jury indict?

Today is the 21st day of January, (yeah, I figured that out myself) and the Chicago Tribune has reported that as of yesterday, there have been 19 people killed and 101 people wounded in this bastion of 'Gun Control'.
One of these victims was killed at a party four blocks from the home of his Honor Rahm Emanuel.
A spokesman for the police department said that most of the shootings were a result of "chronic gang conflicts". But with the city being practically a 'gun free zone', how could this be? All they need to do is pass another law and that will fix the problem. Not!

I haven't read this book by Winston Churchill but if anyone wants to verify the quote, please do and confirm it for me. Forgive the formatting as this was sent to me in this form.
One line that is really scary is toward the end. He points out that at that time, 1899, our civilization was protected from these savages by science. With the likes of the iranians having access to the science of nuclear weapons, that protection is gone or near gone.
Also, as we live an breath, we are watching the destruction of Europe now. If they do not respond vigorously, it will be over in one generation with us not far behind.

CHURCHILL ON ISLAM Unbelievable, but the speech below was written in 1899.
(Check Wikipedia - The River War). The attached short speech from Winston Churchill, was delivered
by him in 1899 when he was a young soldier and journalist. It probably sets out the current views of many,
but expresses in the wonderful Churchillian turn of phrase and use of the English language,
of which he was a past master. Sir Winston Churchill was, without doubt, one of the greatest men of the late
19th and 20th centuries. He was a brave young soldier, a brilliant journalist, an extraordinary politician and
statesman, a great war leader and British Prime Minister, to whom the Western world must be forever in his debt.
He was a prophet in his own time. He died on 24th January 1965, at the grand old age of 90 and,
after a lifetime of service to his country, was accorded a State funeral.
HERE IS THE SPEECH:
"How dreadful are the curses which Mohammedanism lays on its votaries! Besides the fanatical frenzy,
which is as dangerous in a man as hydrophobia in a dog, there is this fearful fatalistic apathy.
The effects are apparent in many countries, improvident habits, slovenly systems of agriculture,
sluggish methods of commerce, and insecurity of property exist wherever the followers of the
Prophet rule or live. A degraded sensualism deprives this life of its grace and refinement,
the next of its dignity and sanctity.
The fact that in Mohammedan law every woman must belong to some man as his absolute property,
either as a child, a wife, or a concubine, must delay the final extinction of slavery until the faith of Islam
has ceased to be a great power among men. Individual Muslims may show splendid qualities,
but the influence of the religion paralyses the social development of those who follow it.
No stronger retrograde force exists in the world. Far from being moribund, Mohammedanism is a militant
and proselytizing faith. It has already spread throughout Central Africa, raising fearless warriors at every step;
and were it not that Christianity is sheltered in the strong arms of science, the science against which it had
vainly struggled, the civilization of modern Europe might fall, as fell the civilization of ancient Rome."
Sir Winston Churchill; (Source: The River War, first edition, Vol II, pages 248-250 London ).
Churchill saw it coming.

I just read the proposal by Texas Gov Abbott calling for a Constitutional Convention. Like many, it is a bit scary to think about tinkering with this document that has served us well, at least up until the last few years.
As the size of the federal government has grown, it has been allowed to assume many powers that it was never intended to have. Agencies have become law making bodies and now these very same agencies are arming themselves up and prepared to enforce rules that have made. This isn't the way it was suppose to work.
Gov Abbott's proposal has limits to what can be considered. If it is limited to these, I have no problem with it. Something must be done as we are losing our freedoms to our own government, not the red or yellow menace.
These limits he proposes are:

- Prohibit congress from regulating activity that occurs wholly within one state.
- Require Congress to balance its budget.
- Prohibit administrative agencies from creating federal law.
- Prohibit administrative agencies from pre-empting state law.
- Allow a two-thirds majority of the states to override a U.S. Supreme Court decision.
- Require a seven-justice super-majority vote for U.S. Supreme Court decisions that invalidate a democratically enacted law
- Restore the balance of power between the federal and state governments by limiting the former to the powers expressly delegated to it in the Constitution.
- Give state officials the power to sue in federal court when federal officials overstep their bounds.
- Allow a two-thirds majority of the states to override a federal law or regulation.

Lost Wages....
Back in November, a friend and I made our almost annual trip to Las Vegas. Our families started doing this back in 1987 or so. We've missed a few years but not many. Anyway...there isn't much new anymore but it is still relaxing and it's as good a place as any to put on a few pounds in a hurry as we spend the majority of our time either eating or planning on where to eat next.
Long ago, we gave up the idea that any of us were going to get rich playing the games so we don't spend a lot of time trying but still they do get a bit of our money. We want to do our part in keeping the lights on out there.
We have seen all the good shows with the exception of 'O', and we will see it the next trip without fail. I think the best one we've seen over the past 5 years or so is 'KA' at the MGM. This year we we saw 'Mystere' at TI and it was pretty good but the music in 'Love', the Beatles was better. A great surprise was the Australian BeeGee's. The small showroom was very cramped but the music was super good. My appreciate of the music in 'Love' and the BeeGees probably reflects my age.
On the back side of Aria and across the street is a unique piece of art. It is an assemblage of canoes, full size. I meant to get a picture of this last year and just didn't so went back, stopped, blocked traffic at the Aria's back door and jumped out and picked this up. Enjoy.

G'town Square at Christmas
Georgetown was selected as 7th prettiest Christmas square this year. This is a national ranking. The closest in Texas was San Antonio at 20th.
Below is a shot of the square's east side. This was two or three days before Christmas. I have other shots but I liked this one best.

This is a cute shot of grandkids and grand nieces at our Niece, Courtney and Larry's wedding. This 'Love' sign is set off a bit from the pavilion at the Kindred Oaks wedding venue. The site is a west of Round Rock and Georgetown. Very nice place.

I've just been reading a post that list several issues that the 2016 congress is considering and debating. It has come to the point where it is almost like the Sunni and Shite debates and if it continues on this path, I can imagine the results being about the same, violence.
There is so much hardened difference in the opinions and the goals from one side to the other, it seems at time that only another civil will could resolve the differences.
We are already seeing armed resistance to federal government over reach as reported in today's news. It is no wonder when government agencies, without the consent of our worthless legislators, take property from citizens, force one private citizen to perform services for another private citizen, ignoring the rights of the first one.
I am afraid we are lost.

As I was rinsing out a can for recycling I had a thought. Here I am using precious water waiting for it to heat up to clean a can that probably isn't worth as much as the water. At some time in the future, someone would be willing to trade a hundred of there cans for just the water used to rinse this one can.
Also, why did the City allow the trash contractor to reduce services and raise rates when they instituted the single stream recycling program? It is more labor and equipment but who benefits from the sale of the material?
